Reticular activation system

The reticular activation system, or RAS, is the part of your brain that filters out the bits of information that are important to you – the bits that you notice.
Most of us will have experienced the phenomena of noticing something, perhaps a particular car that we would like, then suddenly we start to see the same car EVERYWHERE! The car hasn’t come to haunt you, it’s just that you have programmed your brain to look for something and, the brain being naturally obliging and helpful, it sees what you are looking for everywhere.
RAS will seek out proof for your belief systems, sometimes disregarding evidence to the contrary. If your mind is focussed on the negative, RAS will find a nice set of negatives for you and vice versa if you focus on the positive.
